Located in Collier County, Florida, with a population of 21,804 (2006), Naples is a the main city of the Naples-Marco Island, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area, with an overall population of 314,649 (2006). The economy of Naples is largely based on tourism. Along with Marco Island and the Everglades, the city makes up the popular vacation area known as the Paradise Coast.
The city is located on both Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The area referred to as Bonita Beach is located on a road-accessible barrier island (Little Hickory Island) that lies between the Gulf of Mexico and Estero Bay. The Imperial River flows through the downtown district of the city and empties into Estero Bay. The city is the northernmost city on the west coast of Fl that has a tropical climate, having a mean January temperature of 65 °F (18 °C)
Estero is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Florida, United States. As of the 2000 census, population was 9,503. It is the home of Germain Arena, which hosts the home games for the Florida Everblades ECHL hockey team and the Florida Firecats af2 arena football team. Florida Gulf Coast University is also located just outside of the Estero Planning District
Established in 1886, Fort Myers is the historical and governmental hub of Lee County and gateway to the SW Florida region, a major tourist destination. The winter homes of Thomas Edison (Seminole Lodge) and Henry Ford (The Mangoes), are primary tourist attractions. The city is one of the two that make up the Cape Coral-Fort Myers MSA with a total population estimated at 623,725.
